Awards

RAW 2024 presenters have the opportunity to be considered for the following awards offered by the Harry Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology.

Sherry Clarkson Award for the Best Critical Paper ($500) 

We are pleased to welcome submissions for the annual Sherry Clarkson Prize for the best conference paper presented at the RAW Symposium. Judges will evaluate papers on the following criteria:

  • Clarity and relevance of the argument

  • Organization of ideas

  • Demonstration of significant research

  • Adherence to the conference theme

Papers should be formal written papers with full citations (authors may use any citation style of their choice as long as it is formatted correctly). To submit a paper for consideration, panelists must send the submission as an email attachment in .pdf format. We use a blind evaluation format, so please do not include any identifying information (name, university, college, or program) on the submission. All submissions must be addressed to rawconference@utdallas.edu. The winning paper will be announced after the keynote address on the conference day. Submissions for the Clarkson Prize must be received by 11:59 PM (US Central Time) on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Submissions should be 10-15 pages.

Kratz Prize for the Best Creative Project ($500)

This award recognizes individuals who not only produce outstanding original artworks but also excel in presenting their creations. Here are the criteria for the award:  

 

Artistic Brilliance: the originality, innovation, and aesthetic significance of your artwork.  

 

Presentation Skills: your ability to articulate the conceptual framework, inspirations, and challenges during the presentation. 

 

All creative presentations will automatically be considered for this award. 

Bass School Travel Awards 

For the first time ever, we are offering a limited number of Travel Awards to students attending the RAW conference who are traveling to Richardson and need accommodation. The winners will enjoy a complimentary one-night hotel stay on February 16. To qualify, you MUST both register for the conference (here) and submit the Travel Award application form (here) by December 31, 2023
